West Ham United are in desperate need of attacking quality after they failed to improve that area of the squad in the last couple of transfer windows. They will be pushing for an European place next season and will need players who can perform consistently in the League.
The loss of Dimitri Payet is yet to be filled and though there are not many players who can fill in his shoes, there is a certain Bournemouth star who can come close.
Standing as the first ever player to score at the Old Trafford for the Cherries, Josh King has been one of the most consistent players for Eddie Howe’s side this season, picking up 11 goals and two assists in 28 games in the domestic league this season. He joined the English outfit back in 2015 on a free transfer and remains as one of the best purchases by the manager in his stint at the Vitality.
The 25-year old Norway international’s best performance came against the Hammers where he scored a hat-trick to take his side to a memorable victory.
Known for his direct approach and dribbling abilities, King is a versatile player who is capable of playing as a lone striker but is more effective in any of the three positions behind the striker. He has three goals and an assist playing as a lone striker but his best performances have come playing in a number 10 role.
A passing accuracy of 80% is right up there with the best for his side while his 17 key passes is what has seen Bournemouth stand a chance against the best clubs in England. His experience in the Premier League is attracting Bilic who is said to be impressed by the 25-year old and though his value might have plummeted, West Ham are confident of meeting his valuation and luring him to the capital.
After losing Dimitri Payet, Slaven Bilic has used Andy Carroll in a striker’s role while the likes of Michail Antonio, Robert Snodgrass, Andre Ayew, Sofiane Feghouli and Manuel Lanzini have all played in the three positions behind the English striker. However, the manager is desperate for an attacking addition to add quality and dynamism to his front line and King could be the perfect option.
They have been linked with the likes of Jermain Defoe and Michy Batshuayi for a move in the summer. Bournemouth might not yet be ready to sell but do you think West Ham should approach King this summer?
