Swansea City are currently toying with the relegation zone and their defeat against Hull City and Bournemouth have further deepened their crisis. The appointment of Paul Clement seemed to have brought a breath of fresh air to the Liberty Stadium but consecutive defeats have brought the team near the relegation zone. With only nine games to play, Swansea have to go all guns blazing in a bid to rescue their season. The next couple of matches could prove to be extremely crucial as they have to play Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in a bid to stop themselves from getting relegated.
Swansea have the necessary ammunition and firepower to survive in the Premier League and a number of players have to put in all their effort to keep the club in the English top tier.
Three Players Who Need To Improve If Swansea Wants To Avoid Relegation
Fernando Llorente
The arrival of Paul Clement has made Fernando Llorente a better player and he has answered with 11 goals so far that are roughly 30 percent of Swansea’s total goals in this Premier League. Clement has mostly used Llorente as the sole striker up front and the idea has worked so far.
People were unsure whether he would be able to cope up with the pressure of the Premier League but the veteran striker has delivered immensely for the Wales-based club. He has used his height very well as a number of goals have come from headers. Llorente has to maintain his form if the Swans have to avoid relegation this season.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
The Icelandic midfielder is one of Swansea City’s most highly rated players this term. His contribution to the Swans cannot be ignored as the 6’1 midfielder has bagged eight goals and added further 11 assists this season. Clement has deployed him in a number of positions this season and Sigurdsson has passed all of Clement’s tests with flying colours so far. He is one of the best dead ball specialists in the Premier League so far and is capable of clearing the wall with his acute precision.
Leroy Fer
He has been in and out in the starting lineup this season and has contributed whenever he has been called upon. His defensive attributes haven’t been the most impressive but with Clement’s arrival, he is gradually improving. Basically, a defensive midfielder, Fer has been used in a further advanced role and he has flourished there. His ability to score crucial goals has made him an inevitable part of the Swansea side this season.
