Antonio Conte is known to pull off the impossible with players who are not household names but at Stamford Bridge, the story is entirely different. Since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003, Chelsea have emerged as one of the financial superpowers in the European circuit and have invested in a lot of players.
Conte is set to go for a squad overhaul in the summer and Abramovich has already sanctioned a huge transfer kitty to back his manager as they will be competing in the Champions League next season.
Three Players Chelsea Should Sign In The Summer
Leonardo Bonucci
The Italian defender has proved his mettle in the Serie A with Juventus with a series of commendable performances over the years. Antonio Conte had worked with the player during his stint with Juventus and the Italian national team and had made several attempts to sign the player in the past. Bonucci has all the quality to thrive in the most competitive league in the world.
He knows the pros and cons of the three-man defence system as current Juventus coach max Allegri also prefers to play with a three-man backline. Not only while defending but he is an excellent passer of the ball as well and his long pass to Emanuele Giaccherini in the Belgium match is a prime example of this. A very tough defender, Bonucci, would be a hit under the guidance of Conte.
Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian’s rise this season has triggered interest among a host of clubs including his former employers Chelsea. With uncertainty looming large over Diego Costa’s future, Conte is desperate to bring someone who can replicate Costa’s form and Lukaku is the obvious choice. The Everton forward has been in sublime form for the Toffees adding 21 goals to his tally this season.
Chelsea had reportedly made a bid of a whopping £70m but weren’t able to lure the player. But the Belgian has recently said in an interview that he would like to play in the Champions League. As of now, Everton won’t be able to finish in the top four which means he has an outside chance to leave the club with Chelsea being the most suitable destination.
Tiemoue Bakayoko
The 22-year-old midfielder is one of the favourites to be Conte’s one of the many signings in the next transfer window. Conte will be looking to plug the gap in the midfield and Bakayoko is topping his list. The midfielder is having a breakthrough season so far with Monaco and the French club is set to lose one of their most promising players.
