Post the demotion from the Premier League, it was believed that Norwich City would be well on course for an immediate return to the top flight. However, a series of hopeless results and the eventual termination of Alex Neil from the managerial post illustrates the conundrum the Championship outfit currently find themselves in.
Norwich City are 5 points adrift of the sixth spot which is currently held by Sheffield Wednesday and Alan Irvine has been handed the responsibility of an interim manager. Nonetheless, a permanent gaffer would be needed to be welcomed by the club prior to the start of next season and here are three renowned faces they can look for as their next boss.
Martin Jol
Jol has a special place in European football owing to the contributions he had made to the likes of Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax, but he hasn’t been in managerial terms with any club in the continent since 2013 after he left Craven Cottage.
Further, he terminated his relationship with Egyptian outfit, Al-Ahly, last year after a brief spell owing to security reasons but he can very well manage a Championship club like Norwich City, for he has the experience and tactical edge to mould the Canaries into a formidable side in a shrewd manner.
Claudio Ranieri
Fairytales do exist and Leicester City’s dream run last season to clinch the Premier League silverware was testamentary evidence of the same. The Foxes overcame almost every challenge that was thrown at them and inked their named as the champions of England under the tutelage of Ranieri. However, this season hit them hard as they failed to perform with the aura they had the last term around and the Italian was eventually sacked by the club.
Nonetheless, despite being a 65-year-old, his experience of managing a dozen of top quality European sides gives him an unparalleled advantage, for he knows the game better than many and with a move to the Carrow Road, he can inject something spectacular to the Yellow Army.
Nigel Pearson
A brief and not-so-productive spell with Derby County has made Pearson a manager without any club assigned to him and the ball is in Norwich City’s court to sign the Englishman. He is certainly a gettable target and should absolutely be in the minds of the board.
He has the requisite experience in the second tier of English football and the Canaries are likely to enjoy a fruitful period next season if Pearson is appointed.
