Everton are trying hard to persuade Romelu Lukaku to sign a new deal although his current contract runs until 2019. Earlier his agent Mino Raiola had given a hint that his client would sign a new contract but Lukaku did a u-turn and told the club that he is not going to sign the new contract. This has triggered a massive interest among a lot of clubs including his previous club Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether Diego Costa makes his mind or leaves the club after this season but Antonio Conte doesn’t want to take a chance. He will be handed with a big transfer kitty in the summer to spend and the Belgian striker will be his primary target.
Lukaku scored a brace in the last match against Hull city and he reached the milestone of scoring 21 goals in a season since Gary Lineker achieved this for Everton in the 1985/86 season. Lukaku made it clear he is eyeing European football next season which the Toffees might not make it to the next season. That leaves him with no other choice but to leave the club.
If Lukaku does leave, here are the three clubs that he might opt for.
Chelsea
The West London club definitely have the financial power to pay for his transfer fee and wage after they sold Oscar to the Chinese Super League and could use that money in a bid to bring the striker back to the Stamford Bridge. Everton will be looking to coup over £65m if they have to sell their one of the prized asset and that shouldn’t be a problem for Chelsea.
Manchester United
Jose Mourinho had the experience of working with him during his stint with Chelsea and might ask the club to look into his availability. Mourinho is on the search for a prolific front man in the summer. United have been dependent on Zlatan Ibrahimovic in terms of scoring goals and that’s why the Portuguese gaffer wants to bring someone who is proven in the Premier League.
Liverpool
After another awful season featuring Daniel Sturridge, Jurgen Klopp has been searching a suitable striker to replace him. Liverpool are one of the high pressing clubs in the Premier League and their style of football would be a perfect match with Lukaku’s style of play. If they manage to get rid of Sturridge, Klopp might make a move to bring the Belgian to Anfield in a move to improve their attacking department.
