Theo Walcott has admitted that the players need to work harder to save Arsene Wenger’s job. The French gaffer has been the target of the media and fans recently.
Bayern Munich humiliated Arsenal 5-1 in what was the repeat score line of the first leg. Theo Walcott scored the only consolation goal for the Gunners to give the home side something to cheer about.
The fan base and apparently the team is also divided into two sections. One who want Wenger to stay and the other who believe a change is necessary for the club to move forward. As of now, they need to focus on the next assignments and look to salvage some pride at the end of the season.
Arsenal will face Lincoln City in the FA Cup quarter-final and any further upset would finish their chances of winning any silverware this season.
Walcott said,
“He will take this on himself but us players need to look at ourselves.
“The manager has been taking a lot of flak in recent weeks and us players have been accepting it, but we can’t.
“We need to take the pressure off the manager and that will happen by performances. Players just want to play football for this club and do well for the manager.”
