It has been a rollercoaster ride for Stoke City in the Premier League this season if we are to take the initial few weeks into account. But they have chalked out a decent footing for themselves yet again despite not doing anything spectacular. In simple words, it has been a reasonable campaign for the Potters and they are sitting 9th on the league chart with 35 points from their 27 outings in the top tier of English football.
However, a place in Europe is a distant dream and with nothing substantial to achieve for the remainder of the season, Mark Hughes is seemingly likely to bring a couple of new faces to the Bet365 Stadium once the summer transfer window commences. Nonetheless, with incomings, there would also be an exodus as well and here are three players who could be shown the exit door in the summer by Hughes.
Bojan Krkic
Bojan Krkic came to Stoke City from Barcelona with a lot of promise at the onset, but sadly, he has failed to deliver for the English outfit owing to his injuries, poor form time and again and lack of a vote of confidence from the gaffer. The 26-year-old was shipped to the German Bundesliga outfit, Mainz 05, in the January transfer window and is seemingly likely to be gotten rid of in the summer. Stoke City, however, could get their bank account enhanced by disposing of the Spaniard, for he is still a widely acclaimed attacker amongst the football fraternity.
Ibrahim Affelay
A move may be beneficial for Ibrahim Affelay next season, for his tenure at the Staffordshire outfit is severely numbered, to be honest. In 10 appearances this term for Stoke City, the 30-year-old has mustered no goals or assists and has created merely 1 chance, implying that Hughes would not really want him next season.
There is a paramount need of clearing the deadwood at Bet365 Stadium and apparently, the former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona man is on the list of the players likely to depart the club in the summer.
Ramadan Sobhi
Another summer signing who failed to deliver, Ramadan Sobhi has made only 10 appearances under Hughes, delivering not a single goal, bagging just 1 assist and creating merely 4 chances from the wings. The Egyptian International’s development with the Potters hasn’t panned out in the manner in which his employers or he himself must have longed for and a move to a lesser expecting side could enable him to thrive adequately.
