Celtic have been in an absolute rampaging mood, bulldozing their way past every opponent they have plying their trade against. The Celts have all but won the league title with the likes of Aberdeen and Rangers miles behind them.
Scottish Cup is unarguably a very prestigious trophy and Brendan Rodgers has his sights on this silverware as well. Celtic will host St. Mirren in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup at the Celtic Park this Sunday and here is our Celtic predicted line-up for the clash against the Saints.
Celtic 4-2-3-1 Predicted Line-Up To Thwart St. Mirren In The Scottish Cup
Defence
Craig Gordon should be starting the game with the gloves yet again. Gordon has garnered a season to remember and his confidence should rise higher if he gets another clean sheet against a relatively inferior side in the shape of St. Mirren. Some fringe players are likely to be forked out by the former Liverpool and Swansea City boss and we could expect the fullback pair of Emilio Izaguirre and Cristian Gamboa.
Izaguirre’s Celtic career has been overshadowed by the phenomenon rise of Kieran Tierney. The 19-year-old has made it a custom to start from the left-back slot and the Scottish Cup would be an excellent opportunity for Izaguirre to showcase that he still has the calibre in him to challenge for the starting eleven.
Gamboa on the right-back region, veteran central defender in Kolo Toure should also be getting a nod along with Dedryck Boyata at the heart of the Bhoys’ defence to form a four-man defensive wall.
Midfield
Rodgers is likely to go with a 4-2-3-1 formation, implying that Stuart Armstrong and Nir Bitton should be handed the command of the centre of the park. 23-year-old youngster, Callum McGregor has found first team opportunities pretty hard to come by and thus, he should be stationed in the no. 10 role.
On the wings, it is seemingly likely that we could see Scott Sinclair being engineered on the left wing and Patrick Roberts on the right flank against the Buddies.
Attack
It has been a one-way traffic as far as the striker’s role is concerned, with talented Frenchman Moussa Dembele almost singlehandedly bagging a place in the starting line-up of Rodgers. However, the hottest prospect of Celtic does need a bit of rest and Leigh Griffiths is likely to be used to cater to the striking needs of the club up front.
