Everton travels to theWhite Hart Lane on Sunday, a venue that has proved to be quite difficult for them, where they are winless in eight games there since December 2012, although the last three encounters have ended in draws. Spurs, on the other hand, have won their last eight top-flight games at White Hart Lane being the only side yet to lose a Premier League home match this season.
Team News
Everton
Long-term absentee Muhamed Besic, who has been out since the start of the season, has returned to training. And although he is doubtful to feature in this high-octane fixture we expect him to feature soon. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is recovering on a day to day basis from his ankle injury, while former Tottenham man Aaron Lennon continues to recover from his illness. Yanick Bolasie is out for the season.
Kevin Mirallas was seen replacing new recruit Ademola Lookman off the bench against Sunderland last game and the Belgian will be in contention for the first team. Old legs Phil Jagielka and Gareth Barry are expected to start from the bench as the manager looks quite impressed with Ramiro Funes Mori and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Tottenham Hotspur
A lot of players are due for a late fitness test before the important game, which includes the likes of Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen, who were both struggling with minor problems in their last game against Stoke. Centre-half Toby Alderweireld has been struggling with his groin injury and is also scheduled for a late test.
Among assured absentees feature left wing-back Danny Rose, who is still recovering from his knee problem and Erik Lamela from his hip injury. Ben Davies keeps his spot in the team replacing Rose and has been impressive of late.
Harry Winks remains in contention for the starting eleven after he had a successful bench appearance against Stoke. Son Heung-min is expected to start from the bench as Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have been tremendously effective up front.
Predicted Line-up
Everton (4-3-3)– Joel; Coleman, Williams, Funes Mori, Baines; Gueye, Schneiderlin, Davies; Mirallas, Lukaku, Barkley
Tottenham Hotspur (3-4-2-1)– Lloris; Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Davies, Dembele, Wanyama, Walker; Alli, Eriksen; Kane
Key Players
Everton
Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku will have the major responsibility of getting the goals up front. The duo has 21 goals between them and manager Ronald Koeman, knowing how difficult it is to win at White Hart Lane, would hope his forwards draw the first blood.
Tottenham Hotspur
There is no stopping Harry Kane at the moment. The English forward has scored three hat tricks in his last nine games and there is a high chance he will tick the score sheet this time too. The duo of Eriksen and Alli has been magnificent for Pochettino in the attacking third and is one of the main reasons behind Kane’s form. Eriksen has assisted 10 times this season already.
