The 2016-17 campaign has gone horribly wrong for Rangers, ranging from their failure to go toe-to-toe with their arch rivals, Celtic, to their recent termination of association with Mark Warburton. With the ongoing season unlikely to yield anything spectacular, Rangers should start panning out the prospective faces which could cater to the managerial demands of the club.
Here are three such names which could be vouched by the board to fulfil their motto of moving forward.
3 Managers Who Could Be Considered For The Managerial Post At Rangers
Frank de Boer
Dutch legend Frank de Boer is still in the market and Rangers would be an ideal endeavour for him to venture into. The 46-year-old started his managerial career in a pretty convincing manner but his stocks hit a low during his tenure at Inter where he lasted for merely 85 days in charge.
De Boer had a brief spell at the Glasgow-based outfit way back in 2004 as a player and a reunion would perfectly fit both the parties involved, for the former Ajax and Inter manager would find a clean slate to start fresh and the Scottish outfit would land a manager of some repute who would be hungry to prove his intrinsic value.
Martin Jol
Martin Jol would arguably be a safe bet to occupy the throne at the Ibrox Stadium owing to the truckloads of experience he has at the elite levels, whilst plying his trade at the helm of sides like Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax, Hamburger and Fulham. Post the dramatic catastrophe of the club in the recent times, Jol could cultivate a sense of confidence and consistency in the Gers to ensure that they resurrect themselves as a genuine candidate to lift the league silverware next season.
The Dutchman was pivotal in taking Ajax back to the Champions League after a gap of five years and such similar output could be desired from him if he gets lured to Rangers.
Alan Pardew
Like Brendan Rodgers, Alan Pardew could also move to Rangers to bolster their credentials, but then, the former Crystal Palace boss is likely to demand a hefty pay packet for his signature. Make no mistakes, the Englishman’s calibre is one of the best in the business and sadly, the scenario never dished out for him in the manner he would have anticipated at the Selhurst Park. Nonetheless, he must be looking forward to move on from the gloomy period and Dave King should get into a detailed discussion with him soon.
