The Ladbrokes Premiership hasn’t been an intriguing affair this time around as Celtic have been running away with the league silverware in a pretty astonishing manner. The likes of Aberdeen, Rangers, Hearts and Dundee must have been suffering from the worst stage of inferiority complex by now, with the Bhoys accumulating an unassailable lead of as many as 24 points to stay glued to the summit of the league table since the start of the season.
From what has transpired, Celtic have been unbeatable so far, and with the way the scenario has been panning out in their favour, it looks really unlikely that they will be dropping three points in any of the upcoming fixtures.
Brendan Rodgers has orchestrated the riveting rise of Moussa Dembele in the attacking setup of his. The Frenchman has banged in 15 goals and assisted on 5 occasions and has established himself as the irreplaceable no. 9 for Celtic. His outstanding form has pushed the highly promising striker- Leigh Griffiths to the post of a deputy and the lack of game time has affected the morale of the 26-year-old. Recently, Griffiths has also spoken about his rift with the gaffer: So can we conclude that the days of the Scottish international at the Celtic Park are severely numbered?
Make no mistake, it isn’t really hard to deduce that the former Liverpool manager isn’t going to be content with domestic supremacy, even it is an invincible league season. Rodgers has his sights on bettering the credentials of the Scottish heavyweight in the grandest stage of them all: the Champions League. Irrespective of the whereabouts of Dembele in the coming term, it is of paramount importance for the Hoops to keep hold of Griffiths to keep their stronghold in the league very much intact as well as to bolster their chances in the lucrative European competition.
It was an injury to Griffiths’ in the first place which paved the way for Dembele but the Scot is still a very fine player to have in the ranks. So far this campaign, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has scored 8 goals and has also registered 4 assists despite the limited opportunities he has been handed. He is a decent goal getter, has the calibre to breeze past the most resolute defences, clicks in the big games and toils relentlessly whenever he gets to play.
Should the Celts aim to improve their yardsticks, they would need to convince Griffiths to stay at the Parkhead and take the club to new heights in the times to come.
