In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Chelsea are eyeing a move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba. It has been mentioned that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting the Burkina Faso centre-back this summer.
Tapsoba’s Impressive Form In German Football
Tapsoba has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Bundesliga club as he has produced a series of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 27-year-old has found the back of the net five times and earned three assists in 44 matches for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season across various competitions.
The Burkina Faso international is currently one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga. Hence, it is no surprise that the Blues are showing interest on getting him on board at the end of this season.
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2031, which could make it tough for Chelsea to snap him up on a cut-price deal later this year.

Should Chelsea Move In For Tapsoba?
Tapsoba is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and even play his way out from the back if required.
Standing at 1.94m, the Burkina Faso international can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to sign him at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Tapsoba to bring more bite and steel to Chelsea‘s defensive department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting place at the West London club in the coming seasons.
At 27, Tapsoba has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for the Blues to pursue later this year. He might even help the London giants get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League in the future. Therefore, it makes sense for Chelsea to move in for Tapsoba soon.
