West Ham United have had a decent season so far, placed tenth in the league table with 32 points from 25 outings and realistically speaking, a fine run of form could see them getting into the top eight. But then, the Hammers are a side capable enough to do much more than what they have achieved so far this season, and with the resources they have at their disposal, the fans expect them to be fighting for the lucrative European spots.
Slaven Bilic is arguably the right man to lead them and has done a pretty decent job, but has bigger dreams to fulfil in his project of shooting West Ham United higher. Apparently, he is already doing some homework with respect to luring his potential targets in the next transfer window. Reports have surfaced that Bilic is keen to land French Ligue 1 defender Kevin Malcuit for what looks like a deal worth £10 million. Malcuit was on the wish-list for the Hammers in the January transfer window, but their two bids were rejected.
However, Bilic isn’t looking like a man to accept rejection, for the player he has put under his radar is one of the most notable defenders in the French top tier with Europa League experience. The 25-year-old is a very versatile player who can ply his trade at right-back, wing-back as well as anywhere in the midfield.
Moreover, Malcuit’s stats are amazing; he has played 19 times this campaign, winning 39 tackles with a handsome success rate of 59%, has made 51 interceptions, 43 clearances, 4 blocks, has created 10 chances and has also managed to register 4 assists in what has been an outstanding season for him. Further, he has no defensive errors to his name and we shouldn’t be amazed to see potential buyers lining up for him in the summer.
Malcuit isn’t only an excellent defender, he is a potent attacker down the right too and can very well fit the bill at the London-based club. He surges forward meticulously: delivering venomous crosses and has decent pace in his legs to cover every blade of grass on the pitch. The right-back position has been an issue for West Ham United for quite some time now, and now that they have a player who could realistically cater to their needs, a tempting bid awaits in the summer transfer window.
