Antonio Conte Reveals Why He Played This Stalwart Against Wolves

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made it clear that if John Terry Plays well he will be selected in future games. He also added that he gave a chance to the skipper not for ‘Sentiment’.

John Terry was handed a rare start against Wolves in the FA Cup. Chelsea defeated the Championship side 2-0 as goals from Pedro and Diego Costa secured a hard-fought victory for the Blues.

Terry hasn’t had a real chance under Conte as he had been battling injuries and struggled to get his form back. The 36-year-old has played a handful of games this season as Conte has been opting for a three-man defence in the Premier League.

Conte said, “I want to be very clear.

“I’m pleased to give the opportunity but not because there is a sentiment. John Terry is my captain and he’s important on and off the pitch. He played very well. He’s helping me a lot.”
