Celtic Remain Interested In This Emerging Polish Playmaker: Why They Must Tie Him Down At Parkhead

If a recent report from The Daily Record is believed to be true, Celtic remain keen on Filip Rozga, having declared their interest in the Sturm Graz youngster a couple of months ago. He impressed against the Hoops in the Europa League earlier this campaign, and the Scottish champions are expected to test the waters once the season is over.

The 19-year-old Polish international progressed through the academy ranks of Cracovia back in his homeland before securing a regular first-team status in the middle of the park. An impressive spell in the Ekstraklasa earned him a €2m switch to the Austrian heavyweights last summer. However, the young midfield ace could be on the move again, with Celtic likely to undergo a squad overhaul before next season.

Despite not being their best, the Hoops are still in the hunt for a domestic double following their victory against Rangers in the Scottish Cup quarter-final. They are five points adrift of league leaders Hearts in the Premiership standings. But Martin O’Neill, re-appointed as the interim boss following Wilfried Nancy’s dismissal, delivered a wake-up call to his players before locking horns with the Light Blues at Ibrox.

Why Celtic Would Require Reinforcements in The Middle Of The Park

Although the victory has boosted their Cup hopes, Celtic will undergo a transition from June onwards under a new manager. They were late in the past two windows, and management must ensure they won’t repeat the same mistake with transfer business. A midfield reconstruction has to happen in the summer, considering several potential exits for various reasons.

The Celts rejected a staggering £25m offer from Nottingham Forest for Arne Engels late in the winter window. Reo Hatate has been largely out of form, whereas Paulo Bernardo has kept the doors open for a summer departure to attain regular gametime.

While they have Benjamin Nygren and Luke McCowan, who are flexible enough to feature as box-to-box or attacking playmakers, the club have yet to decide whether to trigger the one-year extension of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract beyond this season.

How Rozga Would Slot In Celtic Midfield

Regardless of the former Liverpool midfielder’s future, Rózga would be an exciting addition for his flair and creative spark as a midfield attacker. He has already played 28 times so far this term across competitions, and a move to Parkhead should see him secure a key first-team status for his versatility in various midfield roles. Besides slotting in as a ‘number 10’, the teenager could also operate as a wide midfielder, and it remains to be seen how ambitious the Bhoys are to bring him to Celtic Park.
