Celtic have been a treat to watch this season, with a huge amount of credit going to Brendan Rodgers who has been very sound in terms of chalking tactics. Along with that, the youngsters have risen to the occasion and the veterans haven’t failed to deliver as they move forward towards clinching the Scottish Premiership title.
They are yet to be beaten and the form they are in, one might doubt if they will be in the remaining games. But for a side like Celtic, with success, comes an inherent threat of losing their main men as the sides financially much stronger than them, aim to lure the prized assets that emerge during a spectacular season.
It would be hard for the Bhoys to not give in to the temptations which they are likely to be offered in lieu of selling Moussa Dembele. Rodgers is building a team which is striving for betterment in the Champions League and irrespective of Dembele’s availability at the Celtic Park next season, he must look forward to bring a quality player in the summer to keep the momentum going and instil more competition among the players for getting a place in the starting line-up. Apparently, Celtic are believed to be monitoring Chelsea’s prodigy Dominic Solanke.
Solanke is one of the latest talents to have surfaced from Chelsea’s youth system and has garnered a decent recognition owing to his versatility of playing as a centre-forward (predominantly) and can be equally efficient on the wings or as a No.10 as well. The 19-year-old is a perfect poacher: lose the ball to him in dangerous areas and you are bound to pay the price. Apart from that, he has the ability to hold the ball pretty well, runs the channels and creates spaces for his teammates to pounce upon.
Should Rodgers show keen interest and launch an acceptable bid, Antonio Conte might consider selling the youngster (and mind you, his contract expires in the summer) because of the availability of a plethora of stars in his ranks. He could fit the bill in the Celts’ shirt, for he can score goals, be effective with his back facing the goal and although he is still a rough diamond, he has all the ingredients to be a force to reckon in a few years. Unquestionably, he is will be a decent coup for a club which has a policy of ‘buy low, sell high’.
