Manchester City were held to a goalless draw by a spirited Huddersfield Town side as the Sky Blues could not find the extra gear which would have given them the ability to make use of the ball possession and the half chances. Pep Guardiola would not have been impressed by the fringe players who were given an opportunity to showcase their skills and failed a mini-audition for more game time. Even Aguero, who was played for the entirety of the 90 minutes failed to find the cutting edge and now City have to deal with another fixture which has been added to the already jam-packed schedule of the Sky Blues.
Let us take a look at how the Manchester City players on a day where none of them really impressed.
The Best And The Worst Manchester City Players Rated In Their Draw Vs Huddersfield Town
BRAVO- 7/10
Hardly had anything out of the ordinary to do. A couple of regulation saves but was solid in his passing even if his defenders were not always up to the mark in that department.
ZABALETA- 7/10
A solid display but could not have the telling impact whenever he tried to link up with Navas. Focused and unrelenting.
STONES- 7/10
A good solid display from the England international. Was composed under pressure and tried to play his natural game despite all the pressing.
OTAMENDI- 7/10
Usual boisterous display full of grit and commitment. Comes into his own whenever there is a scrap. Did his chances no harm.
KOLAROV- 4.5/10
A touch of over-confidence resulting in causal approach. Did not contribute as such to the cause of the team.
FERNANDO- 7/10
Uncomfortable start to both halves, but after that, he was an important player putting in some big tackles and blocks.
FERNANDINHO- 7/10
Played in the No.10 role after being played right-back and left-back in consecutive games. While he was solid, did not really affect proceedings in the final third.
DELPH- 6/10
Not the performance Pep would have desired. Had the opportunity to run the show with freedom in the final third but with no chemistry with Nolito ended up without any bite.
NOLITO- 4/10
Not his day and missed an opportunity to show his mettle. Likely to be confined to the odd cup appearance if they progress to the next round.
NAVAS- 5/10
Ran and defended, ran but could not attack. Same old story and a summer exit very much on the cards.
AGUERO- 6/10
Patchy display. Lacking cutting edge and while he did have a brief 10-minute spell of the Aguero we know at the start of the 2nd half, it was too little.
SUBSTITUTES
DE BRUYNE- 4/10
No impact.
SANE- 5/10
Took too much time to release the ball. Tried.
SAGNA- NA/10
