The Bundesliga table is finally starting to take shape. Last week’s unexpected set of results handed Bayern a seven-point lead at the top. After a slow start to the season, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been in staggering form. In the midweek Champions League fixture, the Bavarians crushed Arsenal 5:1 at the Allianz Arena. This weekend they will travel to Olympiastadion to face a strong yet underperforming Hertha side. Here is Bayern’s predicted lineup for the today’s clash.
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer saved a penalty against Arsenal but couldn’t keep out the rebound. Having kept the most number of clean sheets, the German international will be looking for a similar outcome.
Right Back: Captain Philip Lahm is also on the back of a sensational performance against Arsenal. However, he will miss the second leg due to suspension. Even though he will lead his side in this weekend’s Bundesliga clash.
Center Back(R): Javi Martinéz has been the best Bayern centre-back this season. His positional awareness is perfect for Bayern’s style of play. Martinéz will be tasked to stop the likes of Solomon Kalou and Vedad Ibišević.
Center Back (L): Mats Hummels has been an integral part of Bayern’s defense, especially with Jerome Boateng struggling through injury the whole season.
Left Back: David Alaba didn’t exactly have a bright game against Arsenal. Backup player Juan Bernat could possibly start ahead of the Austrian star.
Defensive Midfield: Xabi Alonso proved everyone wrong when he performed incredibly well vs. Arsenal. He will no doubt be a starter against Hertha.
Central Midfield: Joshua Kimmich might make the starting lineup instead of Arturo Vidal. The young German intentional has been pretty decent this season and might replace either Vidal or Alonso in Midfield.
Central Midfield: Thiago Alcantara was the man of the match against Arsenal after putting up an extraordinary performance with two goals and one assists. His fiery form is set to continue further as the season progresses.
Right Wing: Arjen Robben will easily make the starting eleven thanks to some wonderful performance in midweek. His runs down the right wing and trademark curling efforts is sure to cause havoc in the Hertha half.
Left Wing: Franck Ribéry is set to feature against Hertha this week. He was often used as a substitute by Coach Carlo Ancelotti. The 33-year old has provided seven assists this season.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski also found his name on the scoresheet in midweek. The Polish Striker is in red hot form in the league. Scoring two goals this week will put him on par with top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (providing he doesn’t score any).
