Arsenal Have Been Urged To Sign This Atletico Madrid Striker: Good Choice For Arteta?

In a recent episode of the Rest is Football podcast, former Premier League striker Gary Lineker urged Arsenal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. Lineker said,

“It’s probably complete b******* as most of these things are on social media but I saw they were linked with Julian Alvarez who I know is not entirely happy with life at Atletico.

“Now that is the sort of player you know can handle the big occasion – he’s a World Cup winner for crying out loud.

“Someone like that at Arsenal would be game over.

“But they do need one or two of these current forwards to start scoring on a reasonably regular basis.”

Alvarez’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Alvarez is having an impressive campaign at the Spanish club as he has produced a string of eye-catching displays for them in the final third. The 25-year-old has registered 11 goals and earned five assists in 29 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season across all competitions.

The Argentine talent is among the best strikers in La Liga at the moment. Thus, it makes sense for Arsenal to try and get him on board this year.

Will Alvarez Be A Good Choice For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?

Alvarez excels at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field.

The Argentine talent has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League from his time at Man City and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal.

Alvarez would add more bite and steel to Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He is good enough to secure a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming years.

At 25, Alvarez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a solid option for the Gunners to consider this January or at the end of this season. He might even help the London club challenge for some major honours over the next few years.
