Manchester City Identify This Eredivisie Full-Back As A Target: Should Pep Get Him On Board?

In a recent report,  Mail Sport’s Jack Gaughan claimed that Manchester City have identified Feyenoord full-back Givairo Read as a transfer target for this January transfer window. It is believed that the Mancunian club are eyeing a move to bring the Dutch defender to the Etihad Stadium this year.

Read’s Decent Form In Dutch Football

Read is having an impressive campaign at the Dutch club as he has produced a handful of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the pitch. The 19-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in 16 appearances for Feyenoord this season on all fronts.

The Dutch sensation has proven himself to be a decent performer in the Dutch Eredivisie. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are keen on recruiting him this month.

His current contract at the Dutch club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Mancunian club to snap him up on the cheap in this January transfer window.

Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Get Read On Board?

Read is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and excels at playing his way out from the back.

The Dutch sensation can create some decent chances for his teammates from the right flank. Read is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a left-back if needed. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Man City manage to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this month.

We can expect Guardiola to bring more quality and depth to Pep Guardiola’s defence. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 19, Read has got the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, Guardiola would be wise to get him on board before the end of this winter transfer window.
