Fabrizio Romano Confirms Aston Villa Reached Out For This Moroccan Striker: A Better Fit Than Abraham?

Reputed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano shared a big update on Aston Villa’s hunt for a striker this week. He confirmed the club reached out to Fenerbahçe about Youssef En-Nesyri. The Midlands side are up against some tough competition, though. Juventus and Napoli have already shown serious interest in the Moroccan star.

According to Romano, En-Nesyri will decide his next move very soon. At the same time, Villa are still pushing to sign Tammy Abraham. He is currently on loan at Beşiktaş from Roma. The English forward has already said yes to personal terms with Villa. However, the Turkish club hasn’t given the green light for him to leave yet.

This has left the deal stuck in limbo, even after days of heavy talks. Unai Emery clearly wants more options up front after Donyell Malen’s recent loan move to Roma. The Spanish boss sees these two Süper Lig goalscorers as his top picks to sharpen the attack for the rest of the season.

Is the Moroccan a good fit for Unai Emery?

This whole situation leaves Emery with a tricky tactical choice. En-Nesyri is a massive threat in the air and has scored eight goals in 25 games so far this season. However, his link-up play isn’t always as smooth as Emery likes.

On the flip side, Abraham has better technical skills and knows the Premier League well from his previous run at Villa Park. His current form in Turkey is actually better than En-Nesyri’s. This suggests the Englishman would fit right into Villa’s high-pressing style next to Ollie Watkins.

En-Nesyri is a great physical presence, but Abraham is more of a complete player who already gets how the club work. With Juventus pushing hard for the Moroccan, Villa might find it easier to get Abraham, if they can finally convince Beşiktaş to let him go before the window shuts.
