In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Manchester City are in the running to land Leicester City prospect Jeremy Monga. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club would have to compete with Chelsea in the race to sign the English wide player.
Monga’s Impressive Rise In English Football
Monga has caught the eye at times with his performances on the left side of Leicester’s frontline this season. The English starlet has scored one goal and secured one assist in 20 appearances for the Foxes in this campaign so far across various competitions.
The 16-year-old has proven his worth at times on the left wing as he is averaging 0.78 shots per 90 minutes in the English Championship. He has kept 33.3% of his attempts on target. Monga has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass success rate of 75% in the second tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
Monga is currently among the best young wingers in the Championship. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are in the mix to acquire his services this year.

Manchester City Are In The Running For Monga: Is He A Star In The Making?
Monga has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He can create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.
The English sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Monga is primarily a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League.
Still, there is no doubt that Monga would enhance the quality of Pep Guardiola’s frontline in the long run. He is good enough to serve as an ideal understudy to Jeremy Doku at the Mancunian club.
At 16, the future looks quite promising for Monga as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is undoubtedly a star in the making, so Guardiola would be wise to step his efforts to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this year.
