Manchester United In The Running To Sign This Premier League Defender: Good Choice For The Red Devils?

In a recent report, Tuttospot revealed that Manchester United are in the running to sign Bournemouth ace Marcos Senesi. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils were showing interest in the Argentine centre-back last month.

Senesi’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

The 28-year-old is having a decent campaign at the English club as he has put in a series of impressive performances at the heart of their backline. Senesi has picked up four assists in 22 appearances for the Cherries this season across all competitions.

The Argentine sensation has been a rock at the back and deserves credit for making 38 tackles, 43 blocks, 32 interceptions and 157 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass success rate of 75.7% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Vitality Stadium will run out at the end of this campaign, which could give the Red Devils a chance to sign him on the cheap this month or on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.

Will Senesi Be A Good Choice For Manchester United?

Senesi loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.

Standing at 1.85m, the Argentine talent can even use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.

We can expect the Bournemouth star to bring more quality and depth to Man United’s defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team place at Old Trafford in the coming years. Senesi is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Mancunian club.

At 28, Senesi is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Red Devils to consider this January or next summer. He might even help Man United get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League. At the moment, Senesi is on an expiring contract, so the Red Devils would be wise to sign him on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
