Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has said that the support from the supporters has helped him to forget the AFCON disaster.
The Reds player missed the only penalty as Senegal crashed out after a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Cameroon. The winger was back to his best as he inspired Liverpool to a 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. He scored the both goals as they ended their miserable run in 2017. The win gave them an uplift in their chase for the top four spots and possibly even the title.
Mane’s house was also attacked recently after Senegal were knocked out of the tournament. The 24-year old’s absence was felt as Liverpool were dumped out of the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
Mane said, “I want to thank all the supporters for what they have done for me.
“I was very happy to hear that when I came off against Tottenham. Having that support means so much. It has really lifted me since I came back.
“They give the team so much. I know that sometimes it hasn’t been easy for them but they are always behind us and always pushing us. We try to give our best for them.”
