Liverpool Are Planning To Move In For This Real Madrid Midfielder: Good Fit For Slot?

In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Liverpool are planning to move in for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde. It has been stated that the Reds are preparing to make a €150m offer to land the Uruguay international next year.

Valverde’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Valverde has made a solid start to this campaign as he has put in a series of impressive displays for Los Blancos in La Liga. The Uruguayan talent has picked up four assists in 16 appearances for Real Madrid this season across all fronts.

The 27-year-old has proven his worth as a consistent performer for the Madrid giants by making 22 tackles, 11 blocks, 11 interceptions and 23 clearances in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 89.3% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for Liverpool to snap Valverde up on the cheap next year.

Will Valverde Be A Good Fit For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Valverde is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his side at the centre of the park. He usually clears his lines when required and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Uruguayan talent can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. Valverde is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a right-back or as a right-winger if told to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds manage to get him on board in 2026.

Valverde would add more energy and dynamism to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s midfield. He is more than capable of earning a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.

At 27, Valverde is about to enter his prime, which makes him a great fit for the Premier League outfit’s needs this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Slot has to give him some time to settle into life in England.
