Garry Monk was confident of a victory prior to their encounter against mid-table opponents Cardiff City at Elland Road who showed signs of improvement since the appointment of Neil Warnock. But the home side suffered another shocking defeat when Warnock’s side snatched a win by outplaying his former employers. Below are Leeds individual player ratings.
Robert Green
Rating: 6.5
The veteran custodian pulled off a few decent saves and had absolutely no chance in either of Cardiff’s goals.
Luke Ayling
Rating: 6
The right-back was one of Leeds’ best players on the pitch in the first half with his overlapping runs and crosses. But his performance dipped in the second half and he was at fault in Cardiff’s first goal after failing to contain Sean Morrison and allowing to have a free header to alter the scoreline.
Kyle Bartley
Rating: 5.5
The centre-back was nervy in most occasions and clumsy in tackles and clearances. Probably an evening the Englishman would like to forget.
Liam Cooper
Rating: 6.5
Better than Bartley and made a few crucial blocks and interceptions to deny the likes of Gunnarsson, Noone and Zohore but failed to save his side from conceding.
Gaetano Berardi
Rating: 5
The Swiss international was quiet in left-back role and nervy while defending as well as going forward.
Liam Bridcutt
Rating: 6
The skipper had a decent first half and was controlling Leeds’ game from midfield. But the Englishman failed to do so after half time. His misplacement of passes, rough tackles and indiscipline cost his side as he was sent off in later stages after the second booking around the 86th-minute mark.
Ronaldo Vieira
Rating: 5
The highly rated teenager was at fault in Cardiff’s second goal as he failed to keep hold of the ball and was snatched by Aron Gunnarsson who set it for Kenneth Zohore to double the lead.
Stuart Dallas
Rating: 5.5
The midfielder had an impressive first half with his pace, dribbling and long runs. But he became invisible in the second half before being replaced by Hadi Sacko in an hour mark.
Pablo Hernandez
Rating: 7.5
The former Swansea winger was the best performer for the Peacocks and tried hard to turn things around for his side. He created plenty of chances but all his effort went in vain as they failed to capitalise on the chances and convert them into goals.
Alfonso Pedraza
Rating: 6.5
The Villarreal loanee had his first full start after a substitute appearance in last week’s defeat. The winter deadline signing showed glimpses of his touch and class but faded away soon after conceding.
Chris Wood
Rating: 5
The New Zealand international has been Leeds’ player of the season so far who already netted more than 20 times this term. However, it was an off day for the big centre-forward who failed to pose a threat to Cardiff backline.
Substitutes
Hadi Sacko
Rating: 6
The agile winger was introduced in place of Dallas to bring in versatility in Leeds’ attack. He made a few ambitious runs but failed to produce an end product.
Kemar Roofe
Rating: 6
Roofe was brought in place of Pedraza with the similar intention of creative and dynamic movements with pace, power and trickery. He certainly improved Leeds’ attacking intent, but failed to produce anything spectacular.
Souleymane Doukara
Rating: 5
The Senegalese attacker was introduced for last 15 minutes to add some physicality up front. He was mostly unnoticed and failed to have an impact.
