Swansea City will aim to bounce back from the unfortunate defeat they incurred against Manchester City last week and continue their new-found momentum in keeping themselves out of the relegation zone.
They host Leicester City next, against whom they have lost their last four games. However, the Foxes are the only Premier League side yet to score a goal in the league in 2017. Hence, Clement will go into the fixture with a positive mindset.
Predicted 4-1-4-1 Swansea City Line-up
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski will be starting under the bar. The Polish international was pretty subpar before Paul Clement took over the reins of the club early in January and the former Arsenal goalie looks to have improved under the English manager.
The back-four is unlikely to change as Clement’s defence was pretty solid against the mighty Manchester City. New recruit Martin Olsson is already showing what he was signed for. Clement has played his cards well to mend the left-back crisis. The former Norwich City player has brought in a blend of composure and aggressiveness on the left flank. The other flank will be taken by Kyle Naughton. The English defender has held the position quite well under pressure.
The centre-half duo of Jordi Amat and Federico Fernandez has also seen improvement in terms of discipline and flexibility under the new boss.
Midfield
Skipper Jack Cork will continue to take his role as the holding midfielder. The ever-reliable anchorman has led by example in times of crisis and is instrumental in the Swans’ counter attacks. He also provides the added cushion to the back four while absorbing pressure.
The lone midfielder will have two playmakers in front of him in the attacking third. Clement has experimented with his core of central midfielders- Leroy Fer, Sung-Yong Ki, and of late, with Tom Carroll as well. They have even played on the flanks at times. However, we expect Fer to partner the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder in the advanced role. Carroll has been quite influential up front bringing a sense of urgency to the side. His deployment there allows Clement to play his wingers at full-throttle.
Attack
Luciano Narsingh has been more of a bench player so far with the boss using him as an impact player in the final quarter of the game. With Wayne Routledge and Gylfi Sigurdsson in decent form on the wings, it is a matter of time before Clement starts getting the results. And having someone like Narsingh on the bench, who could really change things fast with his exquisite passing and the quick burst of pace, shows how attired is Swansea’s squad depth
Fernando Llorente will spearhead the attack. The Spanish forward was brilliant against Liverpool and is hungry to improve his goal tally.
