The team of the year so far, Tottenham Hotspur, will be making the exciting trip to Anfield as they look to continue their dream run and heap more misery on the struggling Reds. Spurs have well and truly hit their strides and there is every chance that they are going to better last year’s run which fell away right at the end. But Pochettino was understandably not content with last year’s result and instead of seeing it as an aberration and something special, he has set about to form a team and a mentality where they can keep repeating that every year and go further.
Currently 9 points off Chelsea, they are looking like the only team who can realistically put pressure on Chelsea and capitalise if the league leaders do slip up. Like last year, the key players have been Alli and Kane and the positive has been that they have peaked at the right time. The players took time to get going and after a strenuous summer with the National team, the opening weeks weren’t their best. But the team is looking in good shape and despite a couple of important injuries at the back, they have managed to cope well and are getting the job done.
The match against Liverpool will be a test of their character and a win at Anfield will go a long way in determining where they finish eventually.
PREDICTED TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR XI VS LIVERPOOL (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
Hugo Lloris will be in goal as usual and will look to avoid any mistakes in the big game after his unfortunate histrionics against City. Walker will be at right-back and will look to exploit Liverpool’s weakness down his flank. With Vertonghen injured, Alderweireld is likely to partner Eric Dier in central defence. In the left-back slot, Rose might miss out with injury once again, thereby giving Davies a chance to impress.
MIDFIELD
The double pivot is likely to see Dembele and Wanyama line-up and with the two in excellent form, it will require a great deal of effort from the Liverpool midfield to contain them. In the No.10 role, it will be the brilliant Dele Alli who will hope to carry on with his goal scoring ways and score another important goal to bag all 3 points for his team.
ATTACK
On the left side, it will be Eriksen lining up while Sissoko might be preferred on the flanks because of his defensive duties. Otherwise, Son is likely to get a game. Harry Kane will be leading the line.
