Liverpool Agree On A Record-Breaking Deal For This Newcastle United Star: Dream Signing For Slot?

In a recent report, The Athletic revealed that Liverpool have agreed on a record-breaking deal for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak. It has been stated that the Reds have reached an agreement with the Magpies to sign the Swedish striker in a deal worth £130m.

Isak’s Outstanding Season At Newcastle

Isak enjoyed an excellent run of form for the Tyneside club in the previous campaign when he banged in a lot of important goals for them in the final third. The Sweden international scored 27 times and earned six assists in 42 matches for the Magpies last season on all fronts.

The 25-year-old led the line well for Newcastle as he averaged 3.1 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 43.2% of his attempts on target. Isak even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 75.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

Isak is among the most feared strikers in Europe, so the Reds have done well to get him on board despite paying such a big fee for him in this summer transfer window.

Will Isak Be A Dream Signing For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot?

Isak is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer the odd chance for his teammates to score and has proven himself to be a deadly finisher in the final third.

The Swedish talent can make some clever runs with the ball up top. Standing at 1.92m, Isak is a strong presence in the air as well. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.

We can expect Isak to add even more firepower to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s frontline. He could prove to be an upgrade over Hugo Ekitike, who is still settling into life at the Merseyside club.

At 25, Isak is about to enter his prime soon and could help the Reds compete for a lot of major honours over the next few years. Therefore, he would be a dream signing for Liverpool to pull off on transfer deadline day.
