Tottenham held on to a 1-0 second half lead to win against Middlesbrough at the Lane which helped the North London outfit keep pace with the runaway leaders Chelsea. After a resilient first half by Middlesbrough, Tottenham found the breakthrough in the 57th minute when Heung-Min Son was brought down in the penalty area. Kane calmly buried the resulting spot-kick.
Middlesbrough gave Tottenham a late scare but were unable to find an equaliser. Below are Tottenham’s individual player ratings.
Hugo Lloris
Rating: 7
Hugo Lloris didn’t have much to do at the back throughout the whole game but did well whenever he was called upon.
Kyle Walker
Rating: 7.5
Kyle Walker did well to keep things quiet on his side and made some decent runs down the right but failed to have any impact in terms of end-product.
Eric Dier
Rating: 7.5
Dier was decent throughout the game and kept things organised at the back towards the end when there was a short Middlesbrough offensive spell.
Toby Alderweireld
Rating: 8.5
Alderweireld was defensively excellent throughout the game but struggled with his cross-field balls initially. His authoritative defensive performance enabled Tottenham to keep the pressure on Aitor Karanka’s side.
Ben Davies

Davies did quite well under the pressure of expectations of the Tottenham fans. His duels with Traore were particularly interesting and the Welshman did not disappoint.
Mousa Dembele

Dembele again played his typical role in the middle of the park where-in he enabled the players ahead to attack without any fear of losing out the possession suddenly.
Victor Wanyama

Wanyama was again defensively rock-solid and his offensive contribution was noteworthy too. He often got past through the opposition’s midfielder with his sheer strength and helped Tottenham hold the ball while defending and attacking.
Christian Eriksen
Rating: 8
Eriksen’s incisive passing and improvisation in the final third gave Tottenham an edge to get through a resilient Middlesbrough defence.
Bamidele Alli
Rating: 7.5
Dele Alli too added another dimension to the Tottenham attack with his clever passes and runs.
Heung-Min Son
Rating: 8
Heung-Min Son got into really good positions down the left channel and made numerous runs, one of which earned him a penalty after he was clipped.
Harry Kane

Harry Kane was relatively quiet but was able to calmly dispatch the penalty to give Tottenham the lead.

Sissoko made several good runs down the left but they turned out to be eventually fruitless as he gave possession away with a heavy touch or a misplaced pass.
