Alfonso Pedraza is on the verge of joining Leeds United as reports suggest the 20-year-old is having a medical with the Championship side.
The youngster came through the ranks of Villarreal after joining the club at the age of 15 in 2011. He made his debut in La Liga against Valencia in 2015. The Spanish side loaned him to second division side CD Lugo on last August.
Gary Monk’s side are currently in the fourth place and have won their last seven matches out of ten and it seems they could end their long wait to play in the Premier League next season. The Peacocks will initially sign the player on loan for the rest of the campaign but will have the option to make it permanent for a fee of £8.5 m.
According to reports, Villarreal paid Deportivo Lugo a sum of £250,000 for cutting back Pedraza’s loan deal short. The Spain Under-21 international is under contract with Villarreal until June 2017.
