Jurgen Klopp has solely taken the blame on himself as Liverpool crashed out from the FA Cup. Wolves shocked the Reds with a 2-1 defeat to hand them their second consecutive defeat.
Earlier, Liverpool lost to Southampton as the Merseyside club got knocked out from the EFL Cup. Richard Stearman and Andreas Wiemann were on target for the Championship side while Divock Origi restored some pride by reducing the deficit for the home side.
Klopp made a number of changes with Roberto Firmino the only first team player who got a place in the starting lineup. This was Liverpool’s third defeat in eight games and as they were dumped out from two competitions in a gap of three days.
The German gaffer said, “We put in a very bad performance, we started badly and could not improve.
“There are not a lot of good things to say. It is difficult to explain this loss. The start gave them confidence. We were not ready. We gave the ball away and made a foul that led to the goal.
“We tried, but were not good enough in the first half. The second half was better, but not enough.
“I am responsible, not the young players. You learn a lot about players in games like this, but I am responsible.
“We will see how much this affects us. Our problems were obvious, we caused them ourselves.
“But we should not forget Wolves did really well. They defended well and did well on the counterattack. But we were not good enough.”
