According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona are in pole position to sign Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window. The Premier League club want to get rid of the attacker and the Spanish side are showing great interest as of now.
Darwin Nunez is no longer invincible
Darwin Nunez arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2022 from Benfica. While he had a good start at his new home, his role has diminished since Arne Slot came to the helm of affairs. It’s evident that both parties are about to get separated soon.

Nunez has only six goals and five assists in 35 games this season so far. However, it’s important to know that many appearances came as a substitute. He is averaging 1.8 shots, 0.5 key passes, and 0.7 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Urguian striker is a versatile attacker, who exploits the spaces well. He has a good pace and can initiate counter-attackers while also linking up well with his teammates. He has good finishing skills and can be dangerous in aerial battles.
Darwin Nunez will entertain Barcelona’s move
Barcelona find Darwin Nunez as a viable target for the summer window as Liverpool wants to offload the player. The former club see him as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is in the twilight of his career and his long-term future is uncertain.
It’s also reported that Hansi Flick likes the profile of Nunez and wants to sign him. The German mastermind believes the 25-year-old will bring different elements to his side. Unlike Lewandowski, he is a more flexible, mobile and aggressive striker.
Liverpool valued the player at around €50 million, which seems like a reasonable price. However, Barcelona will have to consider their financial situation before making any attempts. Despite continuous interest, the deal seems a bit far away for now.
