The rapid rise of one player at times implies a downfall of similar pace in the stature of another in any football side. The hunger to prove a point is enormous and there is absolutely no room for complacency, for everyone desires to accumulate as much game time under their belt as they possibly can to ensure they are up and running with confidence and form more often than not.
Similar has been the case of Hector Bellerin and Mathieu Debuchy. The former kissing the fountains of success and the latter loitering around the club in an absolutely helpless manner despite having a glittering career. The Frenchman has seen his stocks fall rapidly, in the ranks of Arsenal as well as in the French national side. Most importantly, things have been getting ugly between Arsene Wenger and Debuchy owing to the lack of game time which Wenger has had on offer for the 30-year-old full-back.
However, Wenger cannot be blamed for the woes of Debuchy. Bellerin has been irreplaceable and no manager with a prudent sense of mind would keep the Spanish sensation on the bench with the outstanding form he has been in. Further, Carl Jenkinson is also waiting eagerly for his chances and let’s not forget that Gabriel Paulista has also done the job in the right-back slot pretty well in the absence of Bellerin while he was injured.
Lately, the former Newcastle United defender has been, reportedly, told to leave the club and find new ventures for his own self and here are three clubs which can come to his rescue in the ongoing transfer window.
Manchester United
Jose Mourinho’s back line still lacks resilience and not to mention the top flight experience. By making a move to the Old Trafford, Debuchy can instantly be a wanted commodity and had been linked with the Red Devils during Louis Van Gaal’s reign as well. But the move was blocked by Wenger (well, Debuchy said so!) and thus, it never materialised. Mourinho can make a charge to get this proven veteran to ensure he tightens the screws at the back going into the vital concluding games of the season.
Marseille
Earlier this month, French Ligue 1 outfit, Marseille, had contacted the Gunners about the availability of their out-of-favour defender. Debuchy still has a lot of admirers back in his native country and he should fancy a move back to Spain to re-establish his career and hit the ground up and running once again.
West Bromwich Albion
Arguably the best option to consider, for West Bromwich Albion have been lacking a formidable right-back for quite some time now. Make no mistake, Debuchy will certainly be an upgrade over Craig Dawson and is likely to get the much needed minutes he is so desperately looking for. Further, Tony Pulis would also have the luxury of engineering one of the finest full-backs the Premier League has ever produced.
