As per a report published by Caught Offside, Newcastle United are leading the race for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori. The Premier League club are likely to submit an official offer for the player in the January transfer window.
Fikayo Tomori is willing to leave AC Milan
Fikayo Tomori came through Chelsea academy and moved to AC Milan later in his career. At the Italian club, he managed to impress everyone and establish himself as a mainstay. However, the player is now open to return to the Premier League.
Tomori has featured in 15 games in the ongoing season so far. He is averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 1.8 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Englishman is versatile to play as a centre-back or operate as a full-back on either wing. He is strong, has a long reach, tackles well, and often wins aerial battles. He is also effective with both feets and possess accurate passing abilities.
Fikayo Tomori can help Newcastle United
Newcastle United have been search for a centre-back for a while now. They were highly interesed in Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi but they failed to meet the demands. However, their search for a defender continues as Eddie Howe wants to secure a European berth.
Fikayo Tomori can be good choice considering his prior Premier League experience and qualities. He can used in multiple positions, adding to options in the squad. He is at the peak of his powers which means he can make impactful display for the Magpies.
AC Milan are ready to let the 28-year-old leave if an offer of around €35-38m arrives. Newcastle United would surely like to test the waters this winter. Tomori’s mind to change the club can only change if the new manager Sergio Conceicao is willing to allot him more minutes than the previous think-tank Paulo Fonseca.
