According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are highly interested in signing Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo next summer. The former club are ready to offer as much as €60 million to acquire the player’s services.
Bryan Mbeumo is performing well
Bryan Mbeumo signed for Brentford from Troyes AC in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has been an excellent performer and a pivotal figure. His consistent displays have generated interest from multiple major European clubs.
Mbeumo is in a great tough in the ongoing campaign so far. He has already netted eight goals and provided an assist in 13 games so far. He is averaging 1.9 shots, 1.6 key passes, and 1.1 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Cameroon attacker operates as a striker but can also operate on the right wing. He is skilful on the ball, creating goal-scoring opportunities. He is also capable of providing great finishing touches around the penalty box.
Will Chelsea make a move?
Though Chelsea have a great pool of attackers at their disposal, they still rely too much on Cole Palmer to create goals upfront. Moreover, the future of the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Jadon Sancho is uncertain. Hence, the club’s interest in Bryan Mbeumo makes sense.
Mbeumo is a player who is enjoying his time in the Premier League. His experience and red-hot form will help him take no time to settle down. His versatility and qualities in the final third will surely help Enzo Maresca’s side.
The 25-year-old has 18 months left on his current contract at Brentford. It means he could be available at a reasonable price. However, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea will go after him or not as they are also linked to hyped striker Viktor Gyokeres, whose deal would require bank-breaking figures.
