According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are considering making a move for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi in the January window. The youngster is wanted by the new boss Arne Slot and will cost somewhere around €25 million.
Ricardo Pepi is doing well
Ricardo Pepi arrived at PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2023. In a short time, he has managed to establish himself as a reliable name on the team sheet. His impressive displays have attracted interest from multiple European clubs.
Pepi has been in good touch in this campaign so far, netting seven goals in just 16 games. He is averaging 1.7 shots, 0.6 key passes, and 0.5 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He has already assisted in achieving a goal in the process.
The USA international is technically sound and a clever striker to operate near the box. He has got great hold onto the ball and links up well. With good finishing abilities and defensive contributions, he adds a lot of value to the side.
Ricardo Pepi can be a good addition
Arne Slot inherited Jurgen Klopp’s entire squad, which had only two low-key additions to the unit in the summer. He has Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota at his disposal for the striker role. However, the Dutch manager is reportedly not satisfied with either of them.
Hence, Slot wants Liverpool to go after a new striker in the January window. Ricardo Pepi is the name that has emerged recently. Both the individuals have worked with each other during their spells at Eredivisie and hence, have a good bond.
The 21-year-old has already been proving his high qualities and could be an elite name going forward. He will be excited about the chance to go to Liverpool as it will allow him to elevate his career. The Reds should be able to get his signature for €25 million, which will not be an issue or hurt the finance book.
