Manchester City have faced two defeats in their last two games and their campaign is derailing at the wrong time. While the loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the EPL Cup is acceptable, their disastrous show against Bournemouth cannot have any excuses.
Though the Citizens are going through multiple injuries, they still have enough talent on the pitch to bring the three points. Anyway, they are now preparing to lock horns with Sporting CP in an away contest in the Champions League.
4-1-4-1 Manchester City Predicted Lineup Vs Sporting CP
Defence
Ederson made some important saves in the previous game to keep the scoreline close. Once again he will be an important key between the sticks.
Kyle Walker has a pathetic game and is in line to get replaced by Rico Lewis at the right-back position. The centre-back duo of Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake remain intact as both Ruben Dias and John Stones are unavailable for the contest.
Left-back Josko Gvardiol retains his spot but would like to get over his poor performance against Bournemouth.
Midfield
In the absence of Rodri, it’s easy for Pep Guardiola to keep Mateo Kovacic in the middle of the park.
Attack
Ilkay Gundogan wasn’t clinical in the final third and needs to step up immediately. Phil Foden is having a quiet season and might lose his spot to Matheus Nunes. Bernardo Silva continues to operate on the right wing while Jeremy Doku should return in the XI to play on the left side.
Erling Haaland’s form has seen a dip in recent weeks and he is also desperate to find the back of the net.
The likes of Rodri (ACL), Oscar Bobb (leg) and Jack Grealish (unknown) are unavailable. Kevin De Bruyne and Savinho might get some minutes as they race back to fitness.
