Barcelona are set to return to action as they are scheduled to take on Espanyol in the La Liga this Sunday at home. They will be extremely confident after thrashing Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in back-to-back ties.
Hansi Flick’s side is at the top of the domestic table with 30 points after 11 games. They are maintaining a healthy gap of six, which they would like to continue by collecting all three points this weekend. Fans can expect some rotation in the starting lineup.
4-2-3-1 Barcelona Predicted Lineup Vs Espanyol
Defence
There were doubts over Inaki Pena’s quality but hopefully, he has put them to rest for at least some time. He was fantastic against Real Madrid, making some 1v1 saves.
Jules Kounde remains an undisputed right-back pick though he might get some rest if needed. The centre-back duo of Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez are going rock solid. They proved themselves against the Whites and are looking unstoppable. Alejandro Balde also retains his spot in the left full-back position.
Midfield
Marc Casado has been on an improvement roll since he got the opportunity to feature as a defensive midfielder. However, he is expected to be rested with Frenkie de Jong starting the game.
The Dutch midfielder had changed the control of the game after coming off in the second half against Madrid. He will have the company of Pedri in the middle of the park.
Attack
Hansi Flick should be extremely happy with the offensive part of his team. However, he is likely to give a start to Dani Olma, who recently returned from an injury. He will come at the cost of Fermin Lopez with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal operating on the wings as usual.
Robert Lewandowski again leads the attacking line and should be eager to continue his red-hot form.
