West Ham United Reignite Their Interest In This Talented Winger: Should Lopetegui Go For Him?

In a recent report, RTI Esporte stated that West Ham United have reignited their interest in Fluminense winger Jhon Arias. It has been revealed that the Hammers are eyeing a move to bring the Colombian talent to the London Stadium next year.

Arias’ Impressive Record In Brazilian Football

Arias has enjoyed a decent career at Fluminense so far as he has served as an important member of their attack over the past few years. The South American sensation has made 189 appearances for the Brazilian club, scoring 41 goals and picking up 42 assists in various competitions.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a good run of form for Fluminense this season based on his average of 2.1 shots, 1.5 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the opposition half after making 91.6% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian first division (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at the Brazilian club will expire in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for the Hammers to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.

Should West Ham United Boss Julen Lopetegui Go For Arias?

Arias is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with it on the right flank. He has got the vision to create the odd chance for others around him in the final third and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range.

The Colombian sensation mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also play as a left-winger or in the number ten position if told to do so. We can expect him to bring more goals and creativity to West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui’s frontline.

Arias is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the East London club in the coming years. At 27, he is entering his prime which makes him a decent option for the Hammers to consider in 2025.

However, there are some concerns over whether Arias can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing the Colombian wide player, so Lopetegui should go for him soon.
