Liverpool will face off against Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the EFL Cup. The Reds managed to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw away at Arsenal last weekend which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this cup game.
Arne Slot will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his first XI for this clash. Tyler Morton, Jarell Quansah and Wataru Endo could all play from the start of this game.
4-2-3-1 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton
Defence
Caoimhin Kelleher will continue to feature in goal for the Reds after shipping in a couple of goals in his last outing. Jarell Quansah could get a chance to impress alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Slot’s defence as they hope to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Joe Gomez will fill in as the right-back while Kostas Tsimikas hopes to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them would have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate will be rested on the bench as they provide cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Tyler Morton and Wataru Endo will anchor the midfield for Liverpool as they try to make life tough for the home side in the middle of the park. The gifted trio of Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz will play just ahead of them as part of Slot’s attack. All three of them need to be at their best if they want to create enough chances for the Reds to secure a convincing win at the Amex in midweek.
Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are all expected to get a rest on the bench.
Attack
Darwin Nunez will lead the charge for the Merseyside giants once again up top. He has to find a way to be a real menace in and around the Brighton penalty box.
Mohamed Salah will be named on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the final quarter of this cup game if needed.
