Manchester City will welcome Southampton at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday afternoon as they focus on securing a good result at home in the Premier League. The Mancunian club managed to earn a dominant 5-0 win over Sparta Praha recently, so they would be full of confidence ahead of this game.
Pep Guardiola will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first team for this clash. Ederson, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol could both play from the start of this game.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Ederson will play in between the sticks for Man City after he was rested in midweek. John Stones will function alongside Ruben Dias at the centre of Guardiola’s defence as they hope to maintain a good shape defensively during the 90 minutes.
Rico Lewis will get another chance to impress as the right-back while Josko Gvardiol looks to put in a good performance on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get.
Manuel Akanji will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Guardiola could opt for a midfield three of Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes as they look to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to move the ball well if they want to create some clear-cut chances for their teammates up top.
James McAtee will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Phil Foden would try to give a good account of himself on the left flank while Bernardo Silva hopes to weave his magic from the right. Erling Haaland will once again lead the charge for the Mancunian giants down the middle.
Savio will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the final quarter if Man City are in need of goal by then.
