Liverpool will clash heads with Red Bull Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds managed to secure an impressive 2-1 win over Chelsea recently which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this game.
Arne Slot will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first team for this clash. Kostas Tsimikas, Alexis Mac Allister and Joe Gomez could all play from the start of this game versus Leipzig.
4-2-3-1 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Red Bull Leipzig
Defence
Caoimhin Kelleher will function in between the sticks for the Merseyside club after conceding one goal in his last league outing. Virgil Van Dijk will operate alongside Ibrahima Konate at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep the opposition at bay during the 90 minutes.
Joe Gomez will fill in as the right-back while Kostas Tsimikas hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to get forward and express themselves in the Leipzig half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a slight worry ahead of this game but Andy Robertson should be available for a place on the bench.
Midfield
Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will operate as the holding midfielders for Liverpool as they look to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Luis Diaz, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah will operate just ahead of them as part of Slot’s attack. All three of them need to be at the top of their game if the Merseyside giants are to come out on top in midweek.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo will be named on the bench as they await their chance to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Darwin Nunez will spearhead Liverpool’s attack up top. He would be eager to impress in the injury absence of Diogo Jota.
Cody Gakpo will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if needed.
