In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus claimed that Aston Villa are among the clubs hoping to land Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Georgiy Sudakov. It has been stated that the Villans would face competition in the form of Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in the race to sign the Ukraine international.
Sudakov’s Good Run Of Form For Shakhtar
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a decent run of form for his current employers during this campaign as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. Sudakov has scored seven times and earned a couple of assists in ten matches for Shakhtar this season across multiple competitions.
The Ukrainian talent has managed to prove his worth as a good performer in the opponent’s half. At the moment, he is amongst the best young playmakers in Ukrainian football, so it is no wonder that the Villans are in the race to sign him.
His current contract at Shakhtar will run out at the end of 2028. Therefore, Aston Villa would have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Sudakov next year.
Is Sudakov A Decent Fit For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?
Sudakov is a good dribbler with the ball and can make some impressive runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third.
The Ukraine international is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder or fill in as a left-winger if told to do so by his manager. However, he might need some time to adjust to the physical nature and high intensity of the Premier League if the Villans manage to snap him up next year.
Sudakov would no doubt improve the quality of Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s frontline. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Villa Park. At 22, Sudakov has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday which makes him a great fit for the West Midlands club‘s needs in the long run.
