In a recent report, journalist Callum O’Connell stated that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the England international next year.
Alexander-Arnold’s Impressive Form In The Premier League
Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Merseyside club after he put in a series of impressive displays on the right side of Arne Slot’s defence. The 26-year-old has featured in nine matches for Liverpool this season, picking up a couple of assists in all competitions.
The English talent has been a good performer at both ends of the field as he is averaging 2.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.1 shots, 2.3 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession from the right flank based on his pass completion rate of 73.9% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, it makes sense for Real Madrid to try and sign him on a cut-price deal this January or on a free transfer next summer.
What Will Alexander-Arnold Bring To Real Madrid?
Alexander-Arnold loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive but can sometimes be caught out of position on the defensive third of the field.
The English talent is an excellent crosser of the ball and can set up some promising chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half. He can even strike the ball with power and precision from long range and is a decent dribbler as well.
Real Madrid can undoubtedly benefit from adding someone with Alexander-Arnold’s quality to their squad next year. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 26, Alexander-Arnold has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Madrid giants to consider in 2025. He would bring a lot of quality to Ancelotti’s first team and could help Los Blancos challenge for some major honours in the future.
