In a recent report, Corriere dello Sport revealed that Everton centre-forward is on the radar of Juventus. It has been stated that the Turin giants are hoping to sign the English striker from the Toffees next year.
Calvert-Lewin’s Decent Form In The Premier League
The Sheffield-born attacker has made a solid start to this campaign after he produced a few eye-catching performances as the focal point of Sean Dyche’s attack. Calvert-Lewin has played in seven matches for the Toffees this season, finding the back of the net twice and picking up one assist in various competitions.
The 27-year-old has been a good contributor in the final third as he is averaging 2.1 shots and 0.3 key passes per game in the Premier League. However, he has been untidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 60.2% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Calvert-Lewin’s current deal at Goodison Park will expire at the end of this season, so it makes for Everton to try and sell him this January or else risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Cash In On Calvert-Lewin This January?
Calvert-Lewin is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third and can engineer the odd chance for his teammates in and around the opposition penalty area.
Standing at 1.89m, the English sensation can use his robust frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, he has to figure out a way to improve his link-up play on the offensive third of the pitch.
At the moment, Calvert-Lewin remains an important member of Everton boss Sean Dyche’s match-day squad. However, he is on an expiring contract. Thus, the Toffees would be wise to cash in on him when the transfer window reopens this January as they would be better off using the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement.
Another option for the Merseyside club would be to extend Calvert-Lewin’s contract beyond the end of this campaign.
