In a recent report, Defensa Central stated that Real Madrid have agreed on a long-term deal with Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies. It has been claimed that the Canada international will join the Madrid giants next summer after he accepted a deal that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium until 2030.
Davies’ Impressive Form In German Football
The 23-year-old is having a decent campaign at the German club after he put in a few impressive displays for them on the left flank. Davies has secured one assist in eight matches for the Bavarian outfit this season across various competitions.
The Canadian talent has been a good contributor at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the left wing, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 90.7% in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire at the end of this campaign. Thus, it makes sense for Los Blancos to agree on a deal to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Will Davies Be A Decent Signing For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to make some crucial interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Canada international can strike the ball with power from long range and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He can even orchestrate some promising chances for his teammates from the left flank.
Davies is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. We can expect him to enhance the quality of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club.
At 23, the best is yet to come from Davies as long as he continues to improve with each. Thus, he could prove to be a great signing for Los Blancos in the long run.
