In a recent report, journalist Fraser Gillan mentioned that Arsenal have got a good chance of signing Red Bull Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko. It has been claimed that the Gunners are in a strong position to bring the Slovenian talent to North London next year.
Sesko’s Impressive Rise In The Bundesliga
Sesko is having a productive campaign at the German club as he has already produced a few match-winning displays for them in the Bundesliga. The 21-year-old has banged in six goals and picked up three assists in nine matches for RB Leipzig this season across various competitions.
The talented youngster has proven his value in the final third by averaging 1.7 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half after making 69.1% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for the Gunners to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Move In For Sesko?
Sesko is proficient at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has proven himself to be a capable finisher on the offensive end of the pitch and can create the odd opportunity for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The Slovenian whizkid is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if Arsenal manage to snap him up next year.
Sesko would no doubt improve the quality of Mikel Arteta’s attack. He is good enough to rival Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard for a regular starting spot at the London club in the coming years.
At 21, Sesko has the potential to be a future star in European football. Thus, the Gunners would be wise to move in for the Slovenian prospect when the transfer window reopens at the start of January or next summer.
