In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to recruit the German talent but could face competition from Barcelona in pursuit of him.
Tah’s Impressive Form In German Football
Tah enjoyed a solid campaign at the German club after he put in a run of impressive displays at the heart of their backline. The German defensive ace has made ten appearances for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season, scoring one goal in all competitions.
The 28-year-old has been a rock at the back and has done well to average 0.8 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.8 clearances per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even been careful when distributing the ball from inside his half based on his pass success rate of 94.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the German club will run out at the end of this campaign which could give Los Blancos a chance to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Is Tah A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Tah is a tough-tackling defender who can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. The German talent can use his strong 1.95m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He can even play his way out from the back.
We can expect Tah to enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club in the coming years.
At 28, Tah is playing in his prime and is on an expiring contract which makes him a decent choice for Los Blancos to consider next summer. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Tah could even help Real Madrid challenge for some major trophies in the future. Therefore, it makes sense for Ancelotti to move in for him at the end of this season.
