In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are keeping tabs on the situation of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane. It has been stated that the Catalan club are showing interest in recruiting the Germany international when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
Sane’s Lack Of First-Team Starts In German Football This Season
Sane has struggled to secure a regular first-team spot at the Bavarian club during this campaign but has managed to catch the eye at times for them in the final third. The 28-year-old has scored one goal in four matches for Bayern Munich this season in all competitions.
The 28-year-old has made both of his league appearances off the bench but has done well to average 1.0 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 75% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will expire at the end of this campaign which could open the door for Barcelona to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Is Sane A Good Fit For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?
Sane is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can use his pace well to get in behind the opponent’s penalty area. He has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The German sensation is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if needed. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Catalan club if Hansi Flick manages to bring him on board next year.
We can expect Sane to bring more pace and goals to Barcelona‘s frontline. He has what it takes to earn regular first-team football at the Nou Camp and could help Barca challenge for some major honours over the next few years. At 28, Sane is playing in his prime which makes him a good fit for Flick’s needs in the short-term.
